The ScentFest SF 2026, held at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco from June 26 to 29, 2026, was a groundbreaking event for the niche perfumery industry. With over 4000 visitors, more than double the initial expected number of 2500, the event demonstrated a strong interest in a dedicated platform for independent and creative perfumery in the United States.

### A Real Need in the Market

According to Sebastian Jara, the creator of the event, also known as "The Perfume Guy," the perfume community needed a platform tailored to the West Coast of the United States to allow niche perfume brands, professionals, creators, and enthusiasts to meet. Instead of replicating the European salon model, ScentFest SF created a new format focused on education, discovery, storytelling, and direct exchanges between brands and perfume enthusiasts.

### A Prime Location

The choice of the Fort Mason Center was more than just a logistical decision; it became an integral part of the event's identity. With its stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge, this historic waterfront location reflected the creative, independent, urban, and open-to-discovery spirit of San Francisco. This setting linked artistic perfumery to a city renowned for innovation and cultural discoveries.

### A Hybrid Format Designed for Today's Perfume Market

One of the key strengths of ScentFest SF was its carefully structured format, creating value for both professionals and consumers. Each morning was dedicated to VIP and B2B visitors, allowing brands to present targeted presentations, hold meetings, and exchange with retailers, media, distributors, and professionals. Afternoons were open to perfume enthusiasts eager to discover and acquire new creations directly from the brands.

According to the organizers, this format resulted in a truly win-win model: brands benefited from increased visibility, valuable contacts, and commercial opportunities, while consumers enjoyed privileged access to entrepreneurs, perfumers, and the stories behind the fragrances.

### Industry Support

The success of ScentFest SF also relies on the broad support of the entire perfume ecosystem, including sponsors, partner brands, retailers, and professional organizations. Rather than relying on a single sponsor, ScentFest SF leveraged the mobilization of the global niche perfume community.

Among the main partners were Kintessence (Diamond Sponsor) and Kayali (Platinum+ Sponsor), LuckyScent, Granado Brazil, and Jovoy Paris/Jeroboam (Gold Sponsors). In addition to the participation of distributors, agents, retailers, cultural institutions, and international personalities in the sector, this support demonstrated that ScentFest SF could claim to be more than just a large public festival, but also an important meeting place for the community of author's perfumes.

The involvement of influential retailers in the niche perfume universe, such as ZGO Perfumery, LuckyScent/ScentBar, and Jovoy Paris, allowed brands to connect with a confirmed network of professionals. Institutions like L'Osmothèque enriched the event with a historical and cultural dimension.

A dynamic program of round tables addressed key issues for the future of artistic perfumery, while the presence of international event organizers related to perfume testified to the interest of the global industry in this emerging platform.

Representatives of major European perfume events, including Romain Raimbault, director of events at Nez, Mathieu Chévara, development manager at Nez, and Maurizio Cavezzali, co-founder of Esxence, The Art Perfumery Event, walked the aisles of ScentFest SF, confirming the growing reputation of the event.

Beyond the official programming, the moments dedicated to networking and informal meetings favored human contact, an essential element in the niche world.

### What's Next?

The success of this first edition suggests that ScentFest SF has laid solid foundations for the future. Sebastian Jara has already announced that the preparation of the second edition is underway, with a probable return in June 2027.

If we rely on the results of the first edition, ScentFest SF seems well-positioned to become an annual must-attend event for the global community of artistic perfumery.
