The French fragrance and flavor group Mane has acquired Cvista. This US manufacturer makes fractionated citrus essential oils and natural essences. The move strengthens Mane's position in high-potential natural raw materials. The citrus category is crucial for perfumery.

Founded in 2010 by Hadi Lashkajani, Cvista is a key player. It transforms orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit essential oils into high-value natural ingredients. The company serves some 130 clients globally. They are primarily in the flavor and fragrance industries. Citrus notes remain essential in fragrance compositions. Fruity accords are enduringly popular.

A Strategic Lever for Citrus Innovation

Samantha Mane is President of the Mane Group. She stated that the acquisition is a strategic lever for innovation in the citrus domain. She believes combining expertise will accelerate development. The focus is on high-value-added ingredients based on advanced science.

Florida Becomes Mane's New Citrus Hub

As part of the deal, Mane will transform Cvista's Riverview, Florida site. It will become a global center of excellence dedicated to citrus. Cvista's teams will join the group. Its R&D facilities, pilot units, and production capacities will be kept and developed. This location provides strategic proximity to American citrus production zones. It enhances capacity to develop new generations of citrus-based ingredients for perfumery and beverages.

Expanding Innovation Partnerships

Mane also plans to use this new center to leverage a recent partnership. The partner is computational biology pioneer Arzeda. The focus will be on producing and commercializing the ViaLeaf Reb M sweetener technology. It targets the fast-growing functional and reduced-sugar beverage market. Cvista's expertise in fine natural citrus compounds will enrich this approach. Their applications extend far beyond beverages.

The independent, family-owned Mane Group now operates many R&D centers and production sites globally. It employs thousands of people across many countries. Demand for natural-origin ingredients is growing. So is demand for high-precision olfactory fractions. This has heightened the strategic importance of citrus-based transformation and innovation supply chains. Last year, competitor International Flavors and Fragrances announced a partnership. It was with Florida Polytechnic University to create a Citrus Innovation Center in Lakeland, Florida.
