Inolex has launched SustOleo Embrace, a multifunctional sensory enhancer for skin care, body care, and fragrance applications. The new ingredient is derived from coconut and transforms from a lightweight oil to a cushiony finish on the skin. According to the company, it provides immediate skin refinement and significantly extends the longevity of fragrance.

Miao Wang, Vice President of Research & Development and Commercialization at Inolex, stated the launch builds on previous success. "Following the success of LexFeel Enhance MB in sun care, SustOleo Embrace marks our second product launch this year," Wang said. The technology is powered by a proprietary amino ester platform.

Sensory Performance

The ingredient is designed to create a unique sensory experience. Inolex claims it applies like a premium oil and finishes with an elastomer-like effect, providing slip and cushion without a greasy feel. In a comparison study, SustOleo Embrace spread more readily than dimethicone and approached the spreading behavior of jojoba oil, but with higher substantivity.

Art Knox, President of Inolex, emphasized the importance of sensory appeal. Consumers decide with their senses. How a product feels, how skin looks afterward, how long the scent lasts: that is where brands win or lose now, Knox said. He added that the new ingredient can solve multiple formulation challenges at once.

Skin Benefits and Fragrance Longevity

Testing conducted by Inolex indicates the ingredient delivers measurable skin benefits. In a controlled in-vivo study, a serum containing 7.5% SustOleo Embrace improved dry skin scaliness by 33% and smoothness by 30% after a single application. A separate visual assessment with a 5% concentration reported visible improvements in skin smoothness and elasticity from all subjects.

For fragrance, the company reports extended release and stability. In a 24-hour odor potency test, SustOleo Embrace extended fragrance release on skin for up to 20 hours. Shelf-life testing showed it could significantly reduce the loss of fragrance components like d-Limonene.

The following table compares fragrance loss in a stability test:

Formula Componentd-Limonene Loss After 48 Hours at 50°C
Control (No film former)11.01%
With SustOleo Embrace0.79%

Sustainability and Availability

SustOleo Embrace is characterized as sustainable and biodegradable. It is 85% natural according to ISO 16128, with a Natural Origin Index of 0.85. The ingredient is also palm-free, vegan, cruelty-free, Halal-certified, and Kosher-compliant. Based on EpiSuite modeling, it is expected to be readily biodegradable.

The multifunctional sensory enhancer is available for sampling now from Inolex.
