Wildsmith wins sustainability award
Wildsmith CEO Katherine Pye details the brand's core values and practical sustainability actions following its win at TheIndustry.beauty Innovators Awards

Wildsmith has been named the winner of the Sustainability & Purpose award at TheIndustry.beauty Innovators Awards 2026. The award was presented by logistics firm Noatum and recognises the brand's holistic approach to responsible business practices.
CEO Katherine Pye explained that the brand is defined by four core values: community, experimentation, efficacy, and responsibility. These principles guide all decision-making. Wildsmith operates on a "made by many" philosophy, where every team member contributes to bringing the brand's vision to life.
Connection to Nature and Sustainability
The brand's foundational connection to the Heckfield Estate continues to shape its operations. This stewardship instills a duty to leave the land better than it was found. For Wildsmith, sustainability is not a separate department but is integrated into product development and customer experiences from the start.
Nature serves as both an inspiration and a source of ingredients. It also reinforces the brand's responsibility to protect the ecosystems and communities it relies upon.
Embedding Responsibility in the Product Journey
Wildsmith considers environmental and ethical impact at every stage. This begins with sourcing. The company works closely with suppliers who share its commitment to high standards of ethical conduct, transparency, and environmental responsibility.
Formulation teams actively explore responsibly sourced and upcycled botanicals, alongside more thoughtful manufacturing processes. Packaging is another major focus. The brand is widening its adoption of Vivomer, a locally made, compostable biopolymer.
This mindset extends to the customer experience. Products must perform effectively, information must be transparent, and every brand touchpoint should reflect the belief that efficacy and responsibility are inseparable.
Current Priorities and Future Vision
The brand's immediate sustainability priorities are threefold. First, it aims to keep improving the impact of its formulations and packaging. Second, it seeks to strengthen accountability across its entire supply chain. Third, it is committed to measuring progress with rigour.
Specific actions include increasing the use of lower-impact and compostable materials, improving understanding of climate and resource use, and formalising policies around human rights and ethical supplier standards. To structure this work, Wildsmith uses the FuturePlus framework to assess and set ambitions across climate, environment, social impact, economic responsibility, and diversity and inclusion.
Eva Garcia-Gonzalez, Global Digital Marketing Manager at Wildsmith, stated that winning the award acknowledged not just an individual initiative, but the way responsibility is woven through Wildsmith. She added that the brand has always believed high performance and responsible practice should support one another.
Innovation as Restless Experimentation
Wildsmith describes itself as a company of "restless experimenters." Innovation is central to its growth strategy, but it is not solely about launching new products. The focus is on identifying unmet consumer needs and responding in ways that are effective, responsible, and genuinely useful.
This approach has led to investments in new formulations and delivery systems. It has also influenced treatment development, practitioner training, and manufacturing processes. An example is the Silent Load treatment framework. Developed in response to widespread fatigue and tension, it helps practitioners adapt bodywork to needs guests may struggle to articulate.
Pye sees a future where consumers demand visible performance, credible evidence, transparency, and a clear sense of responsibility. The opportunity lies in connecting science, nature, and purpose without compromise. The challenge is ensuring innovation is meaningful and sustainability claims are backed by measurable progress.
Looking ahead, consumers can expect Wildsmith to continue developing science-backed skincare and body care. The brand plans to extend its use of responsible materials and build new partnerships to reach wider audiences. Katherine Pye emphasised that any growth must remain thoughtful.
