Aptar Beauty Creates Custom Pump
Aptar Beauty has developed a fully custom, refillable pump for L'Occitane en Provence's redesigned hand care collection.

Aptar Beauty has partnered with L'Occitane en Provence to create a fully custom dispensing pump for the brand's repackaged hand care collection. The collaboration resulted in a refillable pump designed to deliver a controlled dose while matching a new visual identity inspired by apothecary heritage.
According to the source, the pump development was part of a strategic rebranding for L'Occitane's hand soap, hand wash, and hand lotion. The brand claims the new pump is stamped as a witness of its rigorous artisanal process. The redesigned bottles are available in two sizes and materials to support refillability.
Custom Design for Heritage and Function
The new packaging marks a return to L'Occitane's roots. The bottle design draws inspiration from the apothecary jar. Aptar Beauty's custom pump was developed to seamlessly integrate with this wider silhouette.
The pump features a large actuator and an oversized collar. It is finished in a glossy black lacquer for visual consistency across the product line. The wide actuation surface is designed to be comfortable and stable for users, including those with reduced dexterity.
Technical Specifications and Refillability
Aptar based its custom solution on its existing Satine cosmetic pump platform, known for generous dosages. The pump was engineered with specific technical features requested by L'Occitane. A key challenge was creating an orientation system to ensure the pump always aligns perfectly with the bottle when unlocked.
The pump delivers an optimised 500 μl dose for controlled dispensing. It uses a 24/410 screw-on neck finish, which facilitates the refillable design of the new bottles. The available bottle variants are detailed below.

|---|---|---|

Collaborative Development and Manufacturing
The project highlights a long-standing partnership between the two companies. Benjamin Girard, Sales Director Custom for Aptar Beauty EMEA, highlighted the co-creation approach. "Our co-creation approach to custom development takes advantage of our technical expertise and manufacturing synergies to create unique pumps," he stated.
Aptar Beauty supported L'Occitane throughout the entire development process. The company provided rapid technical assessments and high-value solutions. Manufacturing leveraged synergies between Aptar's French facilities.
The pump components are molded and decorated at the Oyonnax facility and assembled in Le Neubourg. This local coordination enabled the secure delivery of the final bespoke product in under a year.
